Holiday apartment in Lipové: Nature, Canals and Cycling Tourism
Lipové lies in the plain of Žitný ostrov, in a flat lowland at an elevation of 105 to 109 m above sea level. A relatively dense network of canals runs through the cadastral area. The deforested, flat cadastral area covers 1,058 ha. Geologically, it consists of gravel and sands of the “kolárovskej formácie” with layers of fluvial Danube deposits, as well as alluvial and floodplain soils that are locally saline.
Nature
The cadastral area of Lipové belongs to the Natura 2000 site Ostrovné lúky. Ostrovné lúky is an open lowland habitat that is of great importance for the breeding and survival of the red-footed falcon (Falco vespertinus). The lesser grey shrike (Lanius minor) also finds suitable living conditions in its steppe, forest-steppe and agricultural landscape, as does the tawny pipit (Anthus campestris). The natural setting is complemented by the Bodza–Lipové oxbow, also known as Zsemlekes, which is one of the most valuable tourist locations in Lipové.
History and Local Character
Lipové was established after the land reform of 1920 under the name Hodžovo; settlers from across Slovakia founded the settlement. One visible testimony to the local history is the Protestant bell tower, built in the 1920s. The Terem farmstead is home to the Kálnokyovská kúria and its associated barn, built in the 19th century. Typical architecture in Lipové includes semi-detached houses and the barns standing beside them in Rakotáš.
The local events calendar is also part of the character of the village. Celebrations for Mother’s Day are held annually in Lipové. Community and cultural events organized by the municipality of Lipové also include a goulash-cooking competition.
Activities
The canal-lined landscape of Lipové is suitable for rural tourism. Thanks to the lowland terrain and comparatively low traffic on the local roads, Lipové offers very good conditions for cycling tourism. The recreational options also include the former gravel pit site in the cadastral area of Lipové, immediately next to the municipality of Zemianska Olča. It was converted into the CARP PARADISE fishing lake for recreational fishing.
