Liptovská Osada lies in a valley between two national parks, including Veľká Fatra National Park. The village is a starting point for several hikes and combines experiences in nature with remarkable local history, a cycle path on a historic route, Liptov cuisine, and the water and wellness facilities of Gothal Water World. The two hiking routes have different focal points: the Žiar Viewpoint Trail leads from the centre of Liptovská Osada to the lower part of the rocky massif of Mount Žiar. From the viewpoints on Žiar, there is a view of Liptovská Osada, while the green-marked trail names Mount Malý Zvolen as its destination. Together with the valley between the national parks, this creates a clearly defined geographical setting in which trails, views and local connections stand side by side.

Nature

A special trail begins directly in the centre: the Žiar Viewpoint Trail leads from Liptovská Osada to the lower part of the rocky massif of Mount Žiar. From the viewpoints on Žiar, there is a view of Liptovská Osada. In addition, a green-marked hiking trail leads from Liptovská Osada to Mount Malý Zvolen.

Wellness

Gothal Water World includes a relaxation pool, a children's pool and a 25-metre swimming pool. Gothal's wellness area has three saunas, a relaxation room and a cold-water pool.

Culture and History

Liptovská Osada developed from a Benedictine hermitage that originated around the turn of the 11th and 12th centuries and was mentioned as Gothal or "božie domčeky". The "Church of St John the Baptist" was built in 1762 on the site of an earlier wooden church. The interior contains paintings by Vladimír Droppa. Three bells hang in the tower; the oldest dates from the 17th century and is dedicated to the Holy Trinity.

A former Hussite church is also part of the village's history. It was originally the only Hussite church in Slovakia. Another memorial site is located in a small park on Lúžňanská Street: a monument dedicated to the Slovak National Uprising stands there.

Cycling and Cuisine

CykloKorytnička is a cycle path on the route of a former narrow-gauge forest railway. CykloKorytnička crosses an old railway bridge on its way to Liptovská Osada. At the southern end of Liptovská Osada, Jánošíkova koliba offers Liptov cuisine specialities.
