Holiday apartment in Liptovská Štiavnica between culture and mountain landscapes

Liptovská Štiavnica lies in the valley of the Štiavničanka stream. The villagescape and landscape combine sacred buildings, historical traces and paths to natural and scenic viewpoints.

Culture

The younger manor house in Liptovská Štiavnica was built sometime in the 17th century in the late Renaissance style as a fortified, two-towered log castle. In 1750, it was remodeled in the Baroque style, and in 1880, it was extended by two towers; today, it has four round corner towers. The manor house is privately owned and is not open to the public. It can only be viewed from the outside.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary features modern architecture and is one of the municipality’s landmarks. Construction of the church began in 1995; it was consecrated in December 1999. Next to the church stands a wooden bell tower built in 1933.

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands at the crossroads between Liptovská Štiavnica and Ludrová. It is a small structure from the early 20th century with Neo-Romanesque and Neoclassical elements. The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is located in Liptovská Štiavnica on the main road, about 200 meters below the church.

The Lúčny Hríb hill also bears historical traces: in the older Iron Age and during the Great Moravian period, it was an important fortified settlement. The ascent to Lúčny Hríb is short and easy and offers views of the surrounding area.

Nature

The Nižňanský medokýš mineral spring lies in the protected zone of the Low Tatras National Park. From a rest area at the mineral spring, there are views of the Western Tatras, the Choč Mountains and part of the Lesser Fatra. From the village center, signposts first lead along an asphalt road and then along a footpath to the spring; it is located about 100 meters from Chalúpkovo. The route is thus divided into an asphalt section followed by a footpath. Those heading to the spring from the village do not encounter the same type of surface throughout: the asphalt road is followed by the footpath. The signposting starts at the village center, and the approximate reference to Chalúpkovo additionally places the spring within the local surroundings. This connects the starting point, route and location in one continuous description without equating the two route sections.

On the way

The Komornícka Valley empties into Liptovská Štiavnica and offers the possibility of an easy walk on an asphalt or paved road. A blue-marked cycling route also passes through Liptovská Štiavnica. Thus, the village has both a short walk on a paved surface and a signposted cycling route.
