In Ludrová, the trail leads through Hučiaky Gorge from the village into the Salatín National Nature Reserve and onward to Mount Salatín. The Salatín circular hike includes crossing Hučiaky Gorge and ascending an isolated mountain with beautiful views.

Culture and history

The municipality of Ludrová established and operates the Museum of Traditional Papermaking, continuing the papermaking tradition of the lower Liptov region. The museum is housed in a wooden building near the Medokýš mineral spring. Visitors can interactively try out the entire process of traditional papermaking there.

The Church in Kút belongs to the Liptov Museum and is open to the public. On Pancová Hill near Ludrová are the remains of an important hillfort whose origins date back to the Bronze Age. The church on Stráňa Hill can be reached via a covered staircase.

For planning a day, crafts, sacred sites and historical traces can be considered as distinct cultural highlights.

Nature and landscape

The Medokýš mineral spring lies on the outskirts of Ludrová, 50 metres from the built-up area, in the Močilá locality. The mineral spring can be reached via an asphalt road leading to the Museum of Traditional Papermaking.

Travertine formations can be found on Čerená Hill. The Ludrovianka stream features numerous beautiful meanders. An access point to Tatranský národný park is designated near Ludrová.

The travertine formations, stream meanders and gorge trail each add their own distinctive landscape elements, which can be considered separately when planning.

Trails and events

The “Beh Ludrovskou dolinou” race was held for the third time in 2026. It starts at the OŠK Ludrová football stadium. The traditional Ludrovská Bursa 2026 takes place at the cultural centre in Ludrová and includes singing and dancing.

No marked cycle route runs through Ludrová itself. However, a blue-marked cycle route passes the All Saints chapel in Kút; it comes from Ružomberok and continues east via Liptovská Štiavnica and Liptovské Sliače towards Partizánska Ľupča. The “Do tiesňavy Hučiaky” route starts and ends at the “Ludrová,,otočka” bus stop.

A circular hike, a gorge route, a marked cycle connection and a race thus represent different forms of movement; singing and dancing broaden the range with an event date.

When planning a day, the trails can be distinguished by their character: the “Do tiesňavy Hučiaky” route is defined by its fixed starting and ending point at the bus stop, while the Salatín circular hike combines crossing the gorge with ascending the mountain. Papermaking, churches and the hillfort also represent separate cultural highlights.

When choosing a holiday apartment in Ludrová, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can reflect different aspects of planning. Depending on the travel period and the desired terms, it is possible to weigh which of these details should be considered first and which can remain secondary when putting together a personal itinerary.
