Holiday apartment in Liptovská Teplá: Church, manor houses and the Váh

Liptovská Teplá reveals different facets through its architectural history, landscape trails and activities on the Váh.

Culture and history

The Roman Catholic Church of St Philip and St James in Liptovská Teplá is a single-nave early Gothic building dating from around 1280. The presbytery has a rectangular end, and a projecting tower stands in front of the building. The interior contains wall paintings by Jozef Hanula dating from around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. This building therefore combines an exterior form with interior furnishings from a distinctly later period.

The late Renaissance manor house in Liptovská Teplá dates from the second half of the 17th century. It has two storeys and a block-like design, five bays and a mansard roof. The manor house also has a Baroque extension. The interiors on the upper floor were altered in the second half of the 18th century. One of its rooms retains a decorative Rococo stove made of white majolica. The building, extension, alterations to the rooms and stove thus point to several successive phases of furnishing.

The manor house of the Dvornikovič family is not open to the public. It can only be viewed from the adjacent road.

The Chapel of St John of Nepomuk stands on a road beside the Váh. It is a Neoclassical building.

The Madočany Manor House in Liptovská Teplá is a Neoclassical manor house dating from 1830. It included a park and farm buildings, which were constructed between 1830 and 1832.

The Váh and activities

The section of the Váh in question is navigable year-round. This also applies to open boats; at the same time, the section has a tourist difficulty rating. The description therefore states both that it is navigable throughout the year and that there is the special option of navigating the section in open boats.

SUP boards can be booked from a provider at Liptovská Teplá 51. Collection is also possible there; the boards can be delivered on request.

Boats were inflated on the bank of the Váh in front of Liptovská Teplá station. An approximately 31-kilometre trip down the Váh back to Kraľovany was planned. The statement explicitly describes a planned route, not a completed trip.

Trails and landscape

Red-marked cycle paths pass through Liptovská Teplá. No marked hiking trail begins in Liptovská Teplá. The trails mentioned therefore distinguish between the marked cycle connections and the absence of a marked hiking trail in the locality.

Walks towards the Dvoriská hill are possible in the meadows northeast of Liptovská Teplá.

The Madočany Swing stands in a meadow near Madočany in Liptovská Teplá. It is located on a solitary pine tree. From there, there are views of the Low Tatras, parts of the Choč Mountains and the Western Tatras. The walk from Madočany to the Madočany Swing takes about half an hour.
