Hubovo: Reformed Church, VN Hubovo and Holiday Apartment

Hubovo is situated at the transition between the eastern edge of the Rimavská kotlina basin and the eastern part of the Cerová vrchovina highlands, in the valley of a left-bank tributary of the Slaná.

Nature

Hubovo covers an area of 1,082 ha and is surrounded by forests and hills. In the surrounding area, there are remains of orchards and vineyards that have passed their former heyday. Thus, in addition to the wooded and hilly areas, traces of an older cultural landscape are also part of the village’s character.

Culture

Hubovo is home to a Reformed Church built in the Classicist style in 1776. The single-nave building has a rectangular termination and no tower; the church has also been renovated. The grounds are surrounded by a wall. The masonry entrance porch has a triangular gable bearing the year 1935.

The church grounds contain a wooden bell tower. It dates from the end of the 18th century and is a folk architecture structure with a square floor plan dating from the 1790s. The bell tower was built without a single nail. Its lower section has a wooden hipped roof, above which is a wooden arcade superstructure and a slender shingle cap. The Reformed Church and the wooden bell tower are listed under number 965 in the register of national cultural monuments. Hubovo also has a newer château situated in the middle of a hunting area.
