The most important landmark in Lenka is the Reformed Toleration Church dating from 1786. The single-nave Classicist Toleration church has a segment-shaped apse and an attached tower.

Location and landscape

Lenka lies in the eastern part of the Rimavská Sobota Basin at the foot of the Bodva Hills. At the same time, the village belongs to the historic Gemer region, which is rich in numerous cultural monuments. Land use is distinctly agricultural: agricultural land accounts for 93.4% of Lenka’s total area. The location, regional affiliation and this high proportion of agricultural land give the village a clearly rural geographical setting.

History

The first written reference to Lenka dates from 1323 and reads “zem Nenke”. In later records, the village appears in 1386 as “Lynthe” and in 1427 as “Nenyke” and “Nenyenke”. The recorded forms of the name span several centuries of the village’s history without reducing its historical development to a single designation.

Architectural heritage

In addition to the church, other prominent examples form part of Lenka’s architectural history. The manor house and the manorial granary located in the rear part of the manor house are listed as protected monuments; the protection number is ÚZPF 10978/1-2. Hrad Szilárd is a two-storey, originally Baroque building with a T-shaped floor plan and a mansard roof. It is considered the oldest and most significant monument in Lenka. The different architectural forms—from the Classicist ecclesiastical building to the originally Baroque building—give concrete shape to the village’s cultural landmarks.

Village life

There is a well-maintained park in the centre of Lenka, used primarily by children and young people for communal activities. A local tradition has also been preserved: Lenka traditionally hosts the cooking competition “Súťaž vo varení”, organised for residents and visitors. The park and this event thus represent two different forms of community life in the village.

Compare holiday apartments in Lenka

Those comparing holiday apartments in Lenka can review the accommodation pages using clearly stated fields. It is particularly helpful to look at the exact location, the type of accommodation and the stated occupancy. Included services, individual price components, as well as the respective booking and cancellation conditions can also be checked. These details each apply to the specific offer and should therefore not be replaced by general assumptions. A comparison remains clear when the same features are considered for several holiday apartments. This makes it possible to assess differences in the stated information objectively, without assuming additional features. The decisive information is what is actually stated on the respective offer page. For personal selection, travel dates, the number of accompanying travellers and the desired length of stay can also be compared with the details of the respective offers. What matters is whether the conditions are presented clearly and whether important restrictions relating to price, occupancy or cancellation are expressly and specifically stated.
