Holiday apartment in Hronsek: church, water castle and cycle route

Hronsek makes its history visible in an extraordinary building. Construction of the articular church began on 23 October 1725 and was completed in autumn 1726. The wooden articular Evangelical church is a rare historical monument and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List on 7 July 2008.

Culture

The seasonal accessibility is also part of this place’s character: outside the main season, from September to June, guided tours of the articular church are possible only on request or by prior arrangement. At Hronsek Water Castle, guided tours with commentary are offered through the restored rooms and covering the history of the castle. The interiors preserve historic wall paintings.

The Baroque manor house in Hronsek is also part of the historic townscape. It dates from 1775 and has corner bastions. It is currently closed to the public and is being restored. The Memorial House, formerly a parsonage, is associated with August Horislav Krčméry.

The church grounds are home to the wooden bell tower, a Baroque structure from the early 18th century. It stands approximately 30 metres from the church building and continues to serve its purpose.

Local culture also includes Ľudová hudba Hronsečania. The ensemble offers programmes featuring folk concerts for local celebrations, folklore days, festivals, fairs and outdoor events. Its repertoire includes folk songs from Hronsek and its surroundings, from the Pohronie region and from Podpoľanie. Cycle route and regional trails

Hronsek is part of the Barborská cesta, a route connecting Banská Bystrica, Kremnica and Banská Štiavnica through a region historically shaped by mining, where technical, religious and cultural heritage has been preserved.

Another connection is described by the Rodinná cestička: it is an easy, 21-kilometre half-day cycling tour that leads from Banská Bystrica via Vlkanová, Hronsek, Veľká Lúka and Sliač to Zvolen. The section between Veľká Lúka and Hronsek runs along a road that is also intended for motor vehicles.

Nature

The protected group of trees “Lipy pri Hronseckom kostolíku” stands in the church courtyard. It consists of six lime trees. The six protected lime trees by the church in Hronsek are estimated to be 200 to 250 years old.
