Between Dolná Mičiná and Čerín lies the protected natural formation of Mičinské Travertines, covering 38,320 square metres. The Mičinské Travertines form a comparatively natural system of mineral water springs, whose emergence has created travertine hills.

Culture

The name of Milan Laluha is particularly closely associated with Dolná Mičiná. He connected nearly his entire artistic career with Dolná Mičiná, began creating there and returned again and again over the course of his life. In his paintings, he was often inspired by the village surroundings of Dolná Mičiná. The village is therefore also part of a cultural context that extends beyond individual buildings and encompasses the village landscape.

The cultural and historical monuments of Dolná Mičiná include a bell tower and a memorial plaque commemorating those who fell in the First and Second World Wars. Both monuments represent different forms of remembrance and form part of the local collection of cultural and historical evidence.

History

A distinctive building is the Renaissance manor house Kaštieľ Dolná Mičiná. It dates from the second half of the 16th century and was built on older foundations. The building is a three-storey structure with four round corner towers. At the same time, its present-day history includes the fact that Kaštieľ Dolná Mičiná is abandoned and falling into disrepair.

The Milan Laluha Mini-Gallery also connects with the cultural side of the village. Larger groups and schools can arrange a visit to the Milan Laluha Mini-Gallery outside its regular opening days as well. In connection with Dolná Mičiná, a collection of authentic folklore from villages in the Podpoľanie region, created in 1983, is also mentioned; songs from Dolná Mičiná were later presented in an STVR programme.

Nature

The travertines can be explored via the Mičinské Travertines educational trail. The trail is approximately 500 metres long and takes about 30 minutes. It has an information board as well as several unmarked stops at individual travertine formations and is considered easy. The stated length and duration are approximate values.
