The Brâncuși Monumental Ensemble of Târgu Jiu was created in 1937–1938 to commemorate the people who lost their lives defending the city during the First World War.

Culture

The ensemble extends across two parks connected by the Avenue of Heroes and includes the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, situated along the axis. It combines abstract sculpture, landscape architecture, engineering and urban planning.
