Bobritzsch combines remarkable church art, traces of historic mining and varied trails. If you are looking for a holiday apartment for your trip, you can choose your location based on the experiences you want to shape your stay: cultural and historical discoveries, a longer circular hiking trail or a child-friendly educational trail offer different starting points for planning your days.

Church Art and Mining History

In Oberbobritzsch, St. Nicolai Church features an altarpiece with wings depicting the enthroned St. Nicholas, dating from 1521. The church also has a Silbermann organ, although it is no longer true to the original. The church tower is 56 metres high. The altarpiece, organ and church tower therefore represent different sacred and historical aspects of the church.

Niederbobritzsch also tells the story of the area’s mining history. Since 3 October 2021, information about historic mining has been presented at various locations in the village. A large information board is located in the centre of the village at the “Goldener Löwe” bus stop; it is supplemented by 14 smaller text panels at selected sites. The adit entrance of the Friedrich Erbstolln next to Schmiedegasse 23 is listed as an individual monument within the “Rammelsberg Historic Mining Area” ensemble in the Freiberg mining district and is significant in terms of local and mining history. The Friedrich-Erbstollen is one of the municipality’s last mining relics, and its adit entrance can be seen on Schmiedegasse.

Trails for Short and Extended Excursions

For a manageable outing, the 1.2-kilometre children’s educational trail is ideal. Six large information boards and 15 signs introduce children to the region’s wildlife in an age-appropriate way. The trail ends at the legendary Jungfernborn spring. There you will find a shelter, a small water wheel and an information board about the story of the three maidens. The educational trail thus combines exercise with narrative and illustrative stations.

Those planning a longer route will find a 19-kilometre circular hiking trail with a nature trail in the Oberbobritzsch district. A total of 12 trails are designated and signposted in the municipality of Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf. Along them, hikers can visit historic and cultural sites as well as natural monuments, take a break on benches or go swimming. The different trail options make it easier for you to tailor the length of your day to your own interests without limiting yourself to just one type of exploration.

Views and Cultural Destinations

From the high ground between the districts of Bobritzsch-Hilbersdorf, there are sometimes far-reaching views towards the Tharandt Forest. To the south, the silhouette of the Ore Mountains is visible. These landscape impressions complement the historic destinations with a quieter side of your stay. Other attractions include the oil mill in Bobritzsch, which is still in operation. In Niederbobritzsch, the open-air stage is also associated with cultural events.

Families who want to discover something together can combine the children’s educational trail with the village’s cultural and historical themes. Those who prefer to focus on church art or mining can include the visits separately in their travel plans.
