Culture and History

The observation tower in Böhrigen was built by Carl Gustav Leonhardt in 1890/91. The Aussichtsturm Striegistal e.V. association was founded in 2009 to preserve the cultural monument and make it usable again. The Striegistal observation tower in Böhrigen offers views over Central Saxony and the foothills of the Ore Mountains and has been open to visitors since 2011.

The Heumühle is considered one of the oldest historic buildings in the Striegistal area. Near it in Mobendorf, former mill ditches and the remains of a historic gold-washing operation can be seen.

Within Striegistal, the outdoor swimming pool at Hirschbachtal in Pappendorf invites visitors to enjoy summer recreation.

Striegistal has local restaurants and guesthouses for visitors. Dresden, Leipzig, and Chemnitz are each described as being approximately 30 minutes away.
