Burgstädt’s historic town centre features narrow lanes, patrician houses, a late-Baroque town hall and a market square enclosed by three different towers. The name of the Seigerturm derives from a clock that was installed on the gate tower in 1604 because the church did not have a tower.
Culture and History
The town church is Burgstädt’s oldest building and is a listed monument. Its tower was completed in 1882 and reaches a total height of 63.5 metres.

At a height of 28.5 metres, the Taurastein Tower has an observation platform offering panoramic views over the surroundings of Burgstädt and orientation signs.
Nature and Trails
The freely accessible Apple Nature Trail comprises an orchard meadow with information boards and benches overlooking adjacent fields. Together with the NaturNahGärten, it provides information about orchard meadows, regional and old fruit varieties, and gardening close to nature.

Near Burgstädt, the Brauselochbach valley reaches the Mulde via the Um die Rochsburg nature reserve; a hiking trail follows the course of the stream. It is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including white-throated dippers and the occasional kingfisher.

Burgstädt Sports Pool includes a swimming pool, a non-swimmer pool and a paddling pool, as well as a wellness area, a sauna and a 60-metre-long slide.
Wettinhain is a central green space in Burgstädt with a partly rare collection of plants and trees, including almost 5,000 trees and shrubs. The outdoor grounds also contain an 18-hole miniature golf course. Wettinhain’s open-air stage hosts choir concerts, children’s festivals, open-air cinema and other events.
Nearby, the museum railway offers journeys through the Schweizerthal in an open observation carriage departing from a historic railway station setting.
Cycling and the Surrounding Area
The Chemnitz Valley Cycle Path runs nearby for approximately 24 kilometres along the Chemnitz River towards Diethensdorf and features traces of the former Chemnitz Valley Railway. The cycle path is connected by rail services from Burgstädt or Glauchau to Chemnitz Central Station.
