Culture

The Siebenlehn water tower is a 42-meter-high tower built in 1912 for the local drinking water supply. Visits can be arranged by telephone appointment.

The mining facilities of the Alte-Hoffnung-Gottes-Erbstollen mine in Kleinvoigtsberg can be viewed from the outside during a walk through Kleinvoigtsberg. The Obergruna Local History Room is housed in the barn of a former vicarage. It displays household and agricultural items from earlier times and offers demonstrations of threshing grain, making brooms, producing butter, and spinning yarn from sheep’s wool.

A nave and a choir with a star-ribbed vault were added to Großschirma Church between 1490 and 1503. The reception building of Großvoigtsberg Museum Railway Station dates from 1873. The museum railway station features an exhibition on railway history around Nossen that is open to visitors and also displays railway signaling equipment.

Nature

The Zellwald forest and the Aschbachtal nature reserve west of Siebenlehn are described as destinations for walking and recreation. Großschirma is also associated with walking along the Freiberger Mulde as an activity.

Trails

The Johanniter Trail connects the Saxon Way of St. James with the beginning of the Luther Trail. It is approximately 30 kilometers long and can be walked in two sections.

Getting Around

Federal Highway 101 runs through Großschirma and connects Nossen with Freiberg.
