Schoden: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Schoden can then continue searching for accommodation. Schoden is located directly on the Saar; from here, views extend to vineyards and green hillsides. The wooded heights above the Bismarck Tower offer sweeping views towards France, Luxembourg, Trier and the Eifel.

Landscape

The Saar Riesling Trail leads through sunny vineyards and offers views of the Saar Valley. It can be hiked all year round. The Bismarck Tower in Schoden is a lookout tower dating from 1901/02.

Culture

During the Magdalenenkirmes fair, Schoden maintains the Kirmeskloos tradition: unmarried young men carry a straw figure through the village and sing the Kirmeskloos song. The Catholic Church of St. Paul and St. Mary Magdalene is also part of the village's history. It is a Classicist hall church dating from 1842 with a Romanesque eastern tower.

Activities

The Multi-Kulti Fun Beach is located on the banks of the Saar, a recreational facility in Schoden offering canoe rental. A 90-minute kayaking course starts at the canoe centre in Schoden. The course begins with a brief theoretical introduction; life jackets, paddles and dry bags are provided. The Multi-Kulti Fun Beach also offers a large sun terrace directly on the Saar Cycle Route, as well as homemade cake or ice cream.

Nature

The Wiltingen Saar Bend provides a habitat for kingfishers, cormorants, dragonflies and beavers. A canoe trip leads through a particularly natural section of the Saar in the Wiltingen Saar Bend.
