Culture

The former Himmeroder Hof is a characteristic regional linear farmstead that combines residential and farm buildings beneath offset roofs. It preserves a vaulted cellar with a red sandstone staircase. The regional stone construction is evident in the walls, which are approximately 90 centimeters thick. The former farmstead also includes a sandstone entrance portal from 1733 with a shell niche, a well, a bakehouse, wash stones, stone and oak staircases, and a monumental smoke hood. An unusually large Taken heating system has also been preserved, measuring 2.50 meters high and 2.12 meters wide. The former Himmeroder Hof is listed as an individual monument in the register of cultural monuments of the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm.

The documented Roman archaeological sites also form part of the history of the area. These include a settlement in the Auf Birkenhecken field, dated to the 3rd or 4th century, as well as burial mounds in the Vor der Hardt area.

The Catholic St. Luke's branch church was built in 1818 and is dedicated to Saint Luke. Above the door, a Baroque putto's head is set into the inner west wall. St. Luke's has been protected as a historic monument since March 3, 1986. The high altar is said to have come from the collegiate church in Kyllburg and may have been made in the workshops of Himmerod Abbey in 1760.

Nature

Rohrmaar near Scharfbillig is a 2.21-hectare nature reserve. It protects a nutrient-rich wetland as a habitat and refuge for characteristic endangered wetland species, particularly birds and insects.

Entering or driving through the protected Rohrmaar area near Scharfbillig is prohibited. It is likewise forbidden to let dogs run free or train them there.
