Mützenich: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mützenich combines a historic chapel, Roman archaeological sites and hiking trails in the surrounding area. St. Joseph’s Chapel is a simple rubble-stone building with a three-sided apse and a volute ceiling. Construction began in 1696, and the chapel was ceremonially consecrated in 1714. In 2007 and 2008, it was renovated in accordance with church heritage-conservation regulations, with financial support from the diocese.

History

The remains of a Roman settlement were discovered in the Steinesserich district near Mützenich. During official excavations on the Knopp hill near Mützenich, various Roman vessels came to light in 1913. Mützenich is also associated with people listed among the victims of the First and Second World Wars.

Nature and Village Landscape

The former three-trunk beech tree Im Koppelsfenn is designated as a natural monument and is a destination for tourists and hikers. In and around Mützenich, the surrounding Nordeifel Nature Park offers a variety of hiking trails. The village square in Mützenich also has a bus stop.
