Culture and History

The Church of St. Nicholas and St. Barbara in Wallersheim was built between 1850 and 1860. It stands elevated on the edge of the village at the foot of a slope. The building has a single nave and is designed in Romanesque forms. The west tower ends in an octagonal pyramidal roof, while the polygonal choir has sandstone-framed windows. The furnishings also include coloured ornamental windows. The church regularly serves as a venue for the Wallersheim Passion Plays.

The parish church of St. Nicholas is a hall church influenced by Classicism, with Historicist motifs. Beside the mortuary stands a Baroque wayside cross shrine with a relief depicting Saint Hubertus; it is dated to 1736. The Langstein is a limestone menhir that probably dates from the late Neolithic period.

Within the municipality of Wallersheim, a wayside cross with a relief depicting Saint Peter stands in the Wallersheim Forest southeast of Loch; it is dated to 1726. The Am Lee wayside cross is a late Gothic niche cross bearing the year 1680, with later additions. The former school with teachers' apartments in Wallersheim is a cultural monument dating from 1902.

Art and Events

In Weißenseifen, the Galerie am Pi is used for drawing classes and concerts during four summer weeks. The gallery presents changing exhibitions featuring works by Albrecht Klauer-Simonis. The grounds of the Weißenseifen artists' settlement are freely accessible. Every year, during the first weekend of Advent, the artists' settlement holds the “Streusalz zum Advent” exhibition there.

Hiking and Geology

Prümer Land Tour Route 3 is a moderately difficult 25-kilometre hike with 344 metres of ascent and descent. It passes Devonian rock strata and calcareous grasslands and offers panoramic views. An extension through Loch includes the Walbert Felsenmeer, which is described as a geological feature.

The state roads L10 and L30 run through Wallersheim. The L10 connects Hersdorf with Büdesheim and continues to the B410. The L30 runs from Birresborn-Kopp via Fleringen to the B410 towards Prüm.
