Culture

The parish church of St. Lucia in Habscheid is a protected cultural monument. The south walls of the nave and choir, as well as the three-sided chancel termination, date back to no later than the 15th century.

The nearby Habscheider Mühle is listed as a cultural monument and consists of a stately three-wing complex dating from the mid-19th century. At Habscheider Mühle, the Hollbach flows into the Alfbach, which is a right-bank tributary of the Prüm.

The shaft cross at Hauptstraße 18 is a post-Baroque shaft cross dating from 1806 and is registered as a cultural monument. The cross at the corner of Hauptstraße and Neustraße is the torso of a late Gothic niche cross from 1554 and is also registered as a cultural monument.

On the first Sunday in August, the local community holds a procession to the Donatus Cross to pray for protection from storms.

History

The Emischjass is a deep ravine between trees and hedges that was formed by cart traffic and a natural watercourse leading to the Bierbach. It was formerly a major connection between Lichtenborn, Kesfeld and Habscheid; it was also referred to as a Roman road or military road.
