Culture and History

The chapel of Nimshuscheid was built in 1743 and is dedicated to Saint Brigida. The exterior and interior are well maintained. The Catholic branch church of St. Brigitta is listed as a hall church with a roof turret; it is believed to date from 1790.

There are twelve crosses in the village area. A wayside cross near Hauptstraße 18 is dated 1614. The wayside cross opposite Hauptstraße 30 probably dates from the 18th century. A fully recessed niche cross decorated with reliefs near Talstraße 1 bears the year 1616, while a niche cross opposite Waldstraße 7 is dated 1707. The rock formation Frankelsley and the Frankelsmöhnchen are also associated with Nimshuscheid.

Smaller landscape monuments are also part of the village's character: The sandstone rock in Schlonn offers protection from storms and rain.

Landscape

An old sandstone-walled bridge near Nimshuscheider Mühle crosses the Nims. The river forms a large part of Nimshuscheid's western boundary. The Brömersch rises near Nimshuscheid, and the Johannesbach runs through the Nimshuscheid area past a pond complex.

At the Frankelsley viewpoint, views open up across the Nims valley. The stepped rock at Ley provides seating for hikers.

Nature

The South Eifel Nature Park is a large protected area suitable for nature experiences because of its scenic diversity and biodiversity. The nature parks in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm offer nature trails, hiking paths, cycling routes, and experiential stations.

Existing hiking trails in Nimshuscheid are marked with information indicating that maintenance and additional signage are required.
