Olzheim is situated in an attractive landscape on the Prüm River. Nature

Many hiking trails around Olzheim are interconnected and suitable for hikes lasting several days. Nearby is the 697.8 m-high Schwarze Mann, the highest elevation in the Schneifel; it can be reached via various hiking trails from a starting point near Olzheim.

Official hiking car park 16 is located in the centre of Olzheim next to the community centre. Bus routes 478 and 486 reach this hiking car park. There is a hiking information board and a box with hiking maps available for collection; the maps can also be downloaded and printed.

The Gieren circular trail is 5.2 km long. Route 19 is 24 km long and leads from Olzheim to the Wascheider Reservoir, via Kobscheid and Rohrvenn; the return route runs via Knaufspesch.

The Olzheim Hiking Club introduced the Panorama Trail in 2007, and it was signposted anew in 2019. Along the route on the Kalberberg, a hiking shelter and a reclined rest bench were installed in 2021. The tour can be undertaken as a snowshoe hike in winter and offers views over Olzheim and the surrounding countryside. The route is listed as 11 km long with an elevation difference of 170 m.

Olzheim can be reached via the B51 from the A1 and A60 motorways. The village is also a starting point for cycling and mountain biking tours.

Culture

The church in Olzheim associated with St Brictius is said to date back to around 800. The new St Brictius church building was consecrated on 27 October 1924.

The Afelskreuz is a post-Gothic niche cross dating from 1613. It stands southwest of Olzheim beside a farm track.

The Marien Chapel in Knaufspesch was built over a period of more than two and a half years with 7,000 hours of voluntary work and is available for both concerts and church services. At the subsidiary chapel dedicated to Saint Mary, the roof structure is supported by the crown of a 150-year-old oak tree.
