Pittenbach is situated on the Prüm between Watzerath and Pronsfeld. It is connected to the region’s main road network via federal road B 410.
The village center is shaped by the Prüm; the adjoining areas consist of agricultural grassland. The Dreesbach also flows through the village center, partly in an open channel.
Cycling and hiking
There is an inn in the village center, directly beside the cycle path. Pittenbach has direct access to a cycle path and a hiking trail.
The Pronsfeld–Prüm cycle route reaches Pittenbach via approximately 2 km of municipal connecting road and then follows the former railway line toward Watzerath. The route is part of the Prümtal Cycle Route and the Eifel-Ardennes Cycle Route, which runs from Prüm to St. Vith in East Belgium along a former railway line. The railway history of this line includes the open-air railway museum in Pronsfeld and a 400-meter-long tunnel.
The former railway station in nearby Pronsfeld is the starting point for tours along the railway trail. There are parking spaces there for arriving cyclists, hikers, and inline skaters.
Culture
A maypole and a Christmas tree are put up in the village center every year. Carnival and the traditional Burgbrennen bonfire tradition remain firmly rooted in local culture.
Opposite Ober Kochs 29, a wayside cross is listed and described as an elaborate historicizing pedestal cross dating from around 1918. North of Pittenbach, another wayside cross is listed on a field path: a tall slate pedestal cross bearing the inscription 1918.
