Großlangenfeld includes areas within the 164-hectare Alfbachtal Nature Reserve with the Tunenbach and Hollbach streams. The local landscape is characterised by a forest cover of almost one third and lies between the Alf and Ihren watercourses. The village has an average elevation of around 505 metres.

Culture and History

Großlangenfeld preserves the centuries-old tradition of Johanneswein: Every year, the wine is blessed and tasted during the religious service on 27 December. Other documented examples of the local heritage include a bakehouse believed to date from the 18th century and four old stone wayside crosses. Three of these crosses date from the 18th century, and one from the 17th century.

St. Laurentius is a Late Gothic stone church, probably dating from the beginning of the 16th century, and consisting of a west tower, nave and choir. The high altar and side altar were donated in 1618/19 and later restored.
