Gondorf: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Gondorf combines local history with Eifelpark Gondorf, which brings together an amusement park and a wildlife park. More than 60 attractions, adventure and themed playgrounds, as well as rides and opportunities to observe animals, are part of the park’s offerings.

Gondorf lies east of Bitburg between the Kyll and the B 50. A natural embankment protects the village from cold winds from the north and east.

History

A Frankish burial ground indicates earlier settlement in Gondorf. Ceramic finds from the 2nd and 3rd centuries also point to earlier settlement. Gondorf was first documented in 1226 as “Guendurf”.

Before the French period, Gondorf was partly associated with the provostship of Bitburg and partly came under the rule of Dudeldorf in the Duchy of Luxembourg. The Catholic filial church of St. Wendelin was built from 1846 to 1850.

Leisure

The Eifel Coaster summer toboggan run is almost 1,000 metres long and reaches speeds of up to 40 km/h. The Pirate Island white-water ride passes through a 360-metre-long channel and features drops from heights of up to 14 metres.

At Eifelpark, deer, roe deer, brown bears, lynxes, meerkats, wallabies and other wild animals can be observed at close range. There are also animal feedings accompanied by commentary from zookeepers. Bärenschlucht is a 6,500-square-metre brown bear enclosure.

Visit

There are sufficient free parking spaces available for Eifelpark. Dogs are welcome on a leash. The main entrance to Eifelpark is in the valley on Bärenallee.

The grounds include accessible paths. Accessible toilets are available at the main entrance, and wheelchair users can ride the Rondello carousel.
