Nattenheim: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nattenheim is situated directly on an old Roman military road, on a ridge between the Nims and Kyll rivers. The village is also located one kilometre from the Bitburg exit of the A60 motorway.

History

Two Roman milestones were found in the Nattenheim area, dating from the years 121 and 139 AD. A Roman temple district was located on the Nattenheimer Kopf.

The Catholic branch church of St. Hubertus dates from 1875. It is a Neo-Romanesque church built of limestone blocks with sandstone features. In front of St. Hubertus stands an 18th-century baptismal font from the previous church. The church is surrounded by well-preserved farmhouses from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Nattenheim and its immediate surroundings are also home to eleven old, well-preserved wayside crosses.

Nature

The hike in Nattenheim starts at the multigenerational square and climbs to the Trimberg, Nattenheim’s highest mountain at 435 metres above sea level. The Witch Trail is lined with meadows, fields and a small spruce plantation.

The hike offers wide-ranging views across the Nimstal valley and the hills of the Bitburg region. Part of the quarry along the trail has been left to nature and has developed into a remarkable biotope.

The Bitburg Reservoir near Biersdorf offers pedal boating, rowing and paddling, as well as a lakeside promenade approximately five kilometres long.
