Culture
St. Martin, a Neo-Gothic church made of red sandstone, is considered Bickendorf’s landmark. It was built in 1896/97 by Saarbrücken architect Wilhelm Hector and still features its original Neo-Gothic glazing. The Neo-Gothic high altar reredos from 1898 was donated by Trier auxiliary bishop Karl Ernst Schrod, who came from Bickendorf. St. Martin also preserves a Baroque stone altar wall from the previous building, dated 1738.
Six wayside crosses complement Bickendorf’s historic buildings. The two oldest date from 1623 and 1626. A wayside cross at the junction of Zur Maisbach and Burgstraße is dated 1623. A niche cross on the old road to Ehlenz also dates from 1623. The post cross near Nattenheimer Straße is a niche cross from 1626.
North of Bickendorf stands the Nims Bridge, a single-arch bridge made of red sandstone that was built in 1920.
Bickendorf’s leisure facilities include a barbecue hut and fishing waters.
Cycling
The Nimstal Cycle Route runs through the Bickendorf area. The Nims Cycle Route in the Eifel leads from Weinsheim near Prüm via Bitburg to the Irreler Mühle. In 2025, Bickendorf served as an information stop during the “Nim(m)sRad” cycling event, which took place between Rittersdorf and Rommersheim.
Bickendorf is connected to the regional public transport network via the L 5 between Bitburg and Prüm.
