Kliding: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A marked trail leads from Kliding through the Maiwald forest to the Kliding Waterfall. The Kliding Waterfall, also known as Schießlay, drops approximately 28 metres and is described as the highest waterfall in the Eifel. It is part of the Klidinger Bach, which rises directly at the southern edge of Kliding and flows into the Erdenbach below the waterfall.

Nature

Kliding is situated in the Moselle heights of the Volcanic Eifel. The Sommeterweg reaches the natural surroundings approximately 250 metres from the edge of Kliding.

In 2023, the Waterfall Adventure Route was selected as Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail. The HeimatSpur Waterfall Adventure Route is described as a difficult, 13.3-kilometre hike that leads through rocky gorges and over high ground between Kennfus and Bad Bertrich, and is a circular hike from Bad Bertrich to the Kliding Waterfall.

Kliding is a starting point for hikes to the maars. A circular route from Kliding leads via a shelter; it includes a climbing section and requires sturdy footwear and sure-footedness.

Cuisine

The Kliding Baking Festival has been held annually on the second weekend of May since 1984. Traditionally, bread dough is baked in the Backes or in old stone ovens. Following its introduction, the Deppekooche Festival became a regular part of the events in Kliding.

Culture

The maypole tradition in Kliding uses a fir or spruce from the local municipal forest. The Kliding maypole is erected on the eve of 1 May.

The Catholic Church of St. Wendelin in Kliding is a Neo-Gothic hall church built in 1861/62; its west tower dates from 1904.

A theatre was opened in a former cowshed at Sommeterweg 1 in Kliding. The 30-square-metre theatre in Kliding offers various evening events.
