Culture and History

Around 350 AD, Castor founded the first Christian community in the Roman vicus of Cardena. The collegiate church of St. Castor combines Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque elements and, from an art-historical perspective, is considered one of the most significant religious buildings on the Moselle. Inside is a Late Gothic altarpiece depicting the Adoration of the Magi, which was made from local clay around 1420.
