Mörsdorf: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Several circular trails around the Geierlay are between 3 and 14 kilometres long. The visitor centre in Mörsdorf is the starting and finishing point for these circular trails. The Geierlay Loop, as it is specifically named, is a 6-kilometre hiking route. There is also a barefoot nature trail in the Mörsdorf stream valley.

Mörsdorf is a stage destination on the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig trail. The trail passes directly underneath the Geierlay Bridge. After approximately 3.5 kilometres, the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig reaches a trail access point near Altsrimmig.

The Geierlay restaurant, Restauration Geierlay, is located in the Mörsdorf visitor centre and has indoor and outdoor seating. Mörsdorf has parking areas for cars, motorhomes and buses; some of them provide direct access to hiking trails and the visitor centre.

The direct paved access route from Mörsdorf to the Geierlay is accessible to wheelchair users and prams. The route from the parking areas to the Geierlay is approximately 1.8 to 2 kilometres long and takes around 30 to 40 minutes each way.

Culture

The coat of arms of Mörsdorf depicts a golden palm as the attribute of Saint Castor, the patron saint of the municipality. The red trefoil cross in Mörsdorf’s coat of arms represents local stone crosses dated 1760.

Surroundings

In the nearby area, Mörsdorf can be reached from Treis-Karden by bicycle via the Dünnbach valley; however, the route is not paved.
