Landscape and Trails

The Vineyard Diversity Circular Trail in Lieser is a family trail through the vineyards focusing on vineyard diversity. The Alpaca Experience in Lieser includes walks that pass meadows and Moselle vineyards.

Above Lieser, the Heldensicht viewpoint offers views across the Moselle landscape and of other Moselle towns. The Lieser Forest Experience Trail is described as an easy circular route of approximately 3.14 km. Along the trail there are interactive stations about forest ecology, wooden sculptures, information about wildlife, and views towards the Moselle; the route is described as suitable for families with children.

The final stage of the Lieser Trail covers 8.95 km from Platten to Lieser through the lower Lieser Valley, vineyards, and wooded slopes. It ends near the mouth of the Lieser where it flows into the Moselle and offers views of the Moselle landscape.

Culture and History

Lieser Castle combines an older section in the Neo-Renaissance style with a younger Art Nouveau section. St. Peter’s Church in Lieser has an ornate Baroque interior. St. Paul’s Church stands on the 270-metre-high Paulsberg.

A Roman wine press was discovered at the edge of Lieser in the direction of Bernkastel.

Getting Around

The Maare-Moselle Cycle Route runs from Daun to Lieser along a former railway line. There is an e-bike charging station at the Tourist Information office at Am Markt 38. A boat landing stage is located in the centre of Lieser on the banks of the Moselle, on Moselstraße.
