Culture and History
The Archaeological Trail follows the visible remains of the late-antique fort in Neumagen-Dhron. At its stations, replicas of important reliefs discovered in Neumagen-Dhron are displayed. The Noviomagi Museum is housed in the Tourist Information building and presents life in antiquity in four rooms. Films there explain the location and dimensions of the Roman fort of Noviomagus Treverorum; the museum also reconstructs a Roman school scene based on funerary monuments from Neumagen.
The Neumagen Wine Ship was a monumental tomb for a wealthy wine merchant from Noviomagum and dates from around 220 AD.
Wine and Cuisine
Half of Neumagen-Dhron's vineyard area is located on steep slopes or terraces with inclines of more than 30 degrees. The wine taverns in Neumagen-Dhron serve the vintners' own wine only during a limited period of the year. The wine bars offer Moselle dishes and Moselle wines.
Hiking and Cycling
Neumagen-Dhron is the hub of Moselsteig stages 8 and 9. Hiking options from Neumagen-Dhron include the Römersteig, Seitensprünge, themed trails, Ferienland trails and moderate hikes.
The Moselle Cycle Route runs through the surrounding holiday region. It is described as an area with a well-developed network of cycle paths, as well as hills and valleys suitable for mountain biking.
On the Moselle
The Stella Noviomagi replica can be used for excursions on the Moselle. Passengers can choose between rowing and motor-powered trips. Neumagen-Dhron marina has berths for up to 80 boats measuring up to 15 metres in length.
