Culture

The Roman wine press in the Erdener Treppchen vineyard was discovered and excavated during land consolidation work. It is open for visits year-round; guided tours are available by arrangement.

The village church of Erden was completed in 1720. It contains a stone high altar retable from 1654, described as a Baroque work of art from the early Baroque period. The chapel contains murals depicting scenes from the martyrdoms of Thyrsus and Boniface. It is also a pilgrimage and hiking stop for people traveling along the Moselle or around Erden.

The Treppchenblick Fountain is fed by spring water; its water flows into a nearby biotope. Hermann Schwaab Square is home to a restored tree-powered wine press that uses a pressing technique already employed in Roman times.

Landscape

The Erdener Kletterweg trail features climbing sections with views across the Moselle Valley and passes through the Erdener Treppchen and Erdener Prälat vineyards. In the Erdener Treppchen vineyard, the vines grow on steep slate slopes opposite Erden.

The townscape is characterized by half-timbered houses from the 17th and 18th centuries, winding lanes, and romantic courtyards. Walks from Erden lead through the vineyards and along the Moselle heights. The Erdener Kletterweg borders breeding areas of eagle owls and kestrels; the area is also described as the northernmost range of the rock bunting.

The Campingschänke restaurant at Erden campsite is located directly on the banks of the Moselle and serves regional dishes as well as Moselle wine.

Trails

Two stages of the Moselsteig trail are located near Erden. A signposted access trail from the Erden–Lösnich bridge passes through the Erdener Treppchen vineyard and connects Erden with the Moselsteig. The bridge between Erden and Lösnich also provides access to the opposite bank of the Moselle.

The vineyard loop of the Moselhöhenradweg cycling route also leads to the Roman wine press complex in Erden as a point of interest.
