Lösnich: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The “On the Trail of Nature” themed trail is an easy route of approximately 8.11 kilometers through Lösnich. The walking time is around 2 hours and 30 minutes; the start and finish are at the car park by the Bürgerhaus. Information boards explain the natural elements “earth,” “air,” and “water.”
Hiking and Cycling
The themed trail offers views towards Kinheim and the surrounding meadows and woodland. It circles the wine-growing village through wooded slopes and vineyards, passes the excavation site of Sucellus, and returns through the historic Moselle village, passing St. Vitus Catholic Parish Church.
Free parking is available at the car park by the Bürgerhaus and at the entrance to the village at the Lösnich roundabout. The primary public transport stop for the themed trail is the Lösnich Kreisverkehr stop.
Lösnich is also connected to a signposted cycling route: the approximately 30-kilometer Graacher-Schanzen Loop follows the Moselle Cycle Route through Lösnich and connects the village with Bernkastel-Kues, Wolf, Erden, Zeltingen-Rachtig, and Graach.
Culture and History
The present-day St. Vitus Parish Church was built in 1879/80 in the Neo-Gothic style. The oldest church in Lösnich was first mentioned in 1066. The choir of the church built in 1639 is still used as a cemetery chapel. The Baroque high altar of St. Vitus formerly belonged to the chapel of Lösnich Castle and bears the year 1719.
Other sights in Lösnich include a late-Gothic cemetery chapel and the Kesselstatt administrative building, which is now used as a vicarage. The village is home to old half-timbered houses as well as winegrowers’ houses shaped by the styles of the Wilhelminian era and Art Nouveau.
Wine and Village Life
Winegrowing has shaped Lösnich for centuries. The vineyards are named Lösnicher Försterlay and Lösnicher Burgberg. Every year, local winegrowers open their cellars and kitchens for the Wine Spring and Lösnich Autumn events.
