Graach on the Moselle is a Moselle wine village with the vineyards of Himmelreich, Domprobst and Abtsberg. The historic town centre is characterised by Moselle-style half-timbered vintners’ houses and wineries.

Wine and Townscape

Wineries in Graach offer wine tastings by prior arrangement. A wine hike in Graach follows the Eselspädchen trail, leads through the goat enclosure and includes tastings of ten wines from Graach vintners.

Landscape

The Eselspädchen trail offers views across the Moselle cultural landscape and, in clear weather, as far as the Eifel. In the Schäferei district, there are viewpoints above the Moselle and the green Moselle Valley.

Hiking

The Himmelreich hiking trail is an easy 7.5-kilometre hike. About half of the route runs high above the Moselle along vineyard paths, while the rest leads through light woodland.

The trail begins and ends at the car park of the Graacher Schäferei at Traver Ruh. Auf´m Hahn is named as an alternative starting point. The Moselsteig trail passes through Graach and the Schäferei district.

The Graacher Schanzenweg crosses preserved remnants of fortifications and passes the Maria Zill viewpoint.

History and Culture

The Graacher Schanzen are the remains of a defensive installation from the 18th century. The church in Graach received an organ by the Bonn organ builder Johannes Klais in 1914.

The Graach municipal and tourist information office organises wine weekends, day trips, hiking and cycling tours, as well as bus or boat trips.
