Johannes Bückler, known as Schinderhannes, stayed in Lauschied in 1797 and 1798. The Lauschied shoemaker Johannes Leyendecker is described as the intellectual instigator of many of the crimes associated with him.

Disibodenberg Abbey held hunting rights in the area and, in return, granted the estate owners in Lauschied accommodation rights during hunts.
