Hargesheim lies between the Nahe Valley and the Hunsrück, on the Gräfenbach stream. The town’s history goes back a long way: archaeological finds place Hargesheim among the Neolithic settlement areas of the Nahe region and date back to around 5000 BC.

Culture and History

St. Bernard’s Church is open during worship services. A relic of Blessed Peter Friedhofen is enclosed in its reliquary tomb. The church was consecrated on 15 April 1973.

The town’s history also includes the first mention of Hargesheim in a register of the Rupertsberg Abbey’s properties. Local life is rounded off by the Hargesheim Kerb, a local festival held annually in July.
