The Staudernheim–Soultz-sous-Forêts long-distance hiking trail, marked with a blue bar, passes through Fürfeld. On its route from Bad Münster am Stein-Ebernburg towards the Palatinate and Alsace, it runs through the village. The Rheinhessische Schweiz recreation region offers extensive hiking opportunities through natural landscapes and vineyards; along the way are historic buildings and buildings of local historical significance.

The Hiwweltour Eichelberg crosses the pine-covered Eichelberg and the wild nature of the Rheinhessische Schweiz. Its scenic rest areas include the Nordpfalzblick viewpoint. The trail combines Fürfeld’s half-timbered village character and wine culture with Baroque and medieval history.
A second access route to the Hiwweltour Eichelberg leads from the outskirts into Fürfeld and continues through vineyards to the Thalermühle.
Cycling
A cycling and hiking trail now runs along the former railway corridor between Wöllstein and Frei-Laubersheim.
A cycle path follows the Appel through natural landscapes, passing old mills, castle ruins and churches, as well as vineyards, forests, meadows and fields. The river runs through the municipality of Fürfeld. The regional cycling area includes the Appelbachtal and the Alsenztal; the landscape is gently hilly, and mountain biking is also possible.
Culture and History
Iben Castle and Templar Chapel is considered one of the oldest Gothic church buildings in Germany; only the choir has survived. Iben Castle Chapel stood at the centre of a medieval Templar moated castle, first documented as a commander’s residence in 1258. Of the former moated castle of Hof Iben, only the chapel and some remains of the fortification wall have survived.
From Fürfeld, Iben Castle and Templar Chapel can be reached via the L 410 in the direction of Hof Iben; parking is available along the way to the chapel.
The Baroque house was built around 1730 as the official residence of the Schultheiß and was constructed by the local lords, the Barons of Kerpen. The Jewish cemetery contains 98 gravestones; the last burial took place in 1937. Fürfeld was first mentioned in documentary records in a deed of donation issued in 897.
