Dalberg: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Dalburg was built around 1150 by Godebold von Weyersbach. The complex was not destroyed by war, but fell into disrepair after being used as a quarry in the 19th century. Dalburg was a castle jointly owned by several families of one lineage, who lived there at the same time.
The St Leonhard Chapel was built around 1485, probably as a foundation by Johann von Dalberg, and dedicated to Saint Leonard. The wall paintings on the chancel wall were uncovered in the early 19th century and date from the time the chapel was built. One depiction shows the Madonna standing with the Christ Child on a crescent moon. Other paintings show Saint Leonard with prisoners and with a model of a church.
Nature
Dalberg lies on the southern edge of Soonwald Nature Park, in the Gräfenbachtal region, which is characterised by forests, meadows and vineyards. Soonwald-Nahe Nature Park combines deciduous forests, forest meadows, bogs, traditional orchards, streams, river floodplains, dry-stone walls and fallow vineyards.
Hiking
The Panorama Trail circles the two municipalities of Spabrücken and Dalberg. If you start the route at the church in Dalberg, you reach a panoramic viewpoint after about 600 metres; the trail then leads to Dalburg for a break.
The approximately 85-kilometre Moselle-Nahe Hiking Trail passes through Dalberg on its way to Bad Kreuznach. In addition, a section of the Nahe Höhenweg between Bad Sobernheim and Spabrücken runs via Dalberg and Dalburg.
Cycling
The Kleinbahn Cycle Loop runs mainly along paved agricultural roads; shorter sections follow district and state roads. The L239 runs through Dalberg, connecting the Nahe Valley with the Soonwald; the K40 also passes through the village. The St. Hubertus Inn is located on the L239, with a car park opposite. At the foot of Dalburg, the inn offers traditional German-style cuisine in a rustic setting.
The A61 motorway is about 10 kilometres away, and the B41 about 8 kilometres away – in each case by road.
