History

Desloch originated from a branch of Disibodenberg Abbey. In the early Middle Ages, Desloch was the seat of a high court of the Counts of Veldenz and the Palatine Counts.

Culture and Village Details

The village's cultural heritage includes a late-classical single-ridge house made of rubble stone, built in 1869, and a Baroque half-timbered house dating from the 18th century. The Protestant Church was completed in 1751; its south tower was raised in 1857, and its lower section may consist of a medieval fortified tower.

The Brandeweiher Fountain was created during the construction of the sewer system on the site of the former fire pond. There, it served the local fire brigade as a water reservoir for possible fires and was for a long time a place for convivial gatherings.

Desloch's playground offers many play opportunities and is used as a stop during excursions by kindergartens and schools.

Nearby, in the Jeckenbach municipal area, lies the Römerbrunnen, an ancient well complex. The nearby Römerbrunnen served Roman troops as a resting place. It can be reached on foot via the Deslocher Höhe in the direction of Jeckenbach. Guided city tours are offered in nearby Meisenheim.
