Grünstadt: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A guided city tour lasting around 90 minutes in Grünstadt focuses on the town’s earlier history as a residential city, the visible traces of the Counts of Leiningen, historic buildings and churches, as well as local artists and notable personalities. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Grünstadt can continue their accommodation search afterward.

Culture

The Museum in Grünstadt’s Old Town Hall was founded in 1903 and presents local and regional history across two floors. Exhibits include prehistoric archaeological finds as well as Roman and Frankish artifacts.

The Sausenheim Audio Walk includes a station dedicated to the Schlesinger family of artists and Roman traces in the Schlesinger House. Another station covers the old railway, the Leininger Talbahn railway line and Roman graves. A church treasure collection in Grünstadt also presents aspects of the church history of the Leiningerland region.

Wine

Asselheim is a wine-growing village on the northern slope of the Eis Valley. Sausenheim is a wine-growing town above the Eckbach Valley, near the northeastern edge of the Palatinate Forest.

The Hammer winery in Grünstadt-Sausenheim offers guided vineyard walks and wine tastings by prior arrangement. Weingut Grün organizes guided experience tours with food and wine tastings by appointment, also in English. Via Eberle in Grünstadt offers wine tastings for up to 40 people with a snack platter. Several traditional wine events take place every year in Grünstadt and its districts of Asselheim and Sausenheim.

Nature

Himmelsliege 1 is located next to an orchard meadow above Grünstadt and overlooks the town and the Rhine Plain. West of Grünstadt’s center, the Palatinate Almond Trail leads across an orchard meadow to Sophienruh. In the Grünstadt area, it follows the Eisbach stream and continues to Grünstadter Berg. A viewpoint along the Palatinate Almond Trail offers views across the Rhine Plain and, in clear weather, as far as the Odenwald.

Trails

The Grünstadt Sky Trail can be hiked as a complete loop or as individual loops, each around 6.5 kilometers long, in the direction of Asselheim or Sausenheim. In some sections, it runs parallel to the Palatinate Almond Trail, the Palatinate Wine Trail and the German Wine Route hiking trail. A designated parking area for the Grünstadt Sky Trail is available at Grünstadt’s city park.

The planned Grünstadt Sky Trail circular hiking route is intended to connect Grünstadt with the districts of Asselheim and Sausenheim. Grünstadt is described as being well connected by public transport. During the Höllenpfad event, a shuttle connects the railway station and the town center with the access points to the vineyard hike.
