The Château du Castellas includes ruins on a rocky promontory of the Massif d’Uchaux. They overlook the surrounding plain and the former route of the Via Agrippa. The oldest surviving sections display architectural features of 13th-century Romanesque architecture. The Château du Castellas was classified as a historic monument on 10 February 1994.

Culture

Slightly below the Château du Castellas lies the Chapelle Saint-Michel. It is considered an example of rural Romanesque art and served as Uchaux’s parish church until 1840.

Nature

The Massif d’Uchaux covers approximately 7,500 hectares. The forests of Uchaux offer opportunities for walks. Le Tour de Roquecourbe, an easy two-hour walk, also passes through the Forest of Uchaux.

The botanical educational trail of Uchaux showcases the local diversity of plants along the Jean-Henri-Fabre steps, including pine trees, heather, rockroses and strawberry trees. The Tour du Massif d’Uchaux is a signposted, moderately difficult cycling route for hybrid bikes that follows roads shared with other road users.

Wine

Château Saint Estève offers visitors wine tastings with explanations of the wines and how they are made. During a visit, four different red wines from the Massif d’Uchaux are presented. On an exclusive tour, visitors can discover the winery’s wine cellar and historic vaulted cellar.
