Traces Vaudoises is a challenging 20 km circular hike with a stated duration of six hours. The circular trail passes between Craux, drailles and deeply cut valleys on the southern slope of the Petit Luberon. The Mémorial Vaudois stands on the ruins of the original village of Mérindol and offers an exceptional panoramic view.
La Muse presents the history of Waldensianism, religious persecution and the 1545 massacre in a permanent exhibition. La Muse is the Vaudois Museum of the Luberon and the headquarters of the Association d’Études Vaudoises et Historiques du Luberon (AEVHL). La Muse’s outdoor information panels remain accessible outside opening hours.
Nature
La Garrigue de Mérindol is an area designated by the Département de Vaucluse as an Espace Naturel Sensible (ENS), featuring pine forest, preserved agricultural land and wetlands connected to the Durance. The wetlands provide habitats for the typical flora and fauna of the low Mediterranean garrigue.
At the beginning of March 2025, new information panels, interpretation panels and signposts were completed at the Observatoire ornithologique de Mérindol.
The 1.2 km Sentier de l’Observatoire begins at a small car park 1.5 km south of Mérindol.
