Culture and History

The Chapelle Sainte-Marie-Madeleine is the only place of worship in Saint-Marcellin-lès-Vaison; a large cypress tree stands beside it. The Château de Taulignan was built by the Blégier family in the 16th century and has five rooms as a guesthouse. A bronze statuette of Bacchus was discovered on Darbousset Hill in 1830; the Bacchus statuette from Darbousset is kept at the Musée Calvet.

Before being assigned to the Vaucluse département at the end of August 1793, Saint-Marcellin-lès-Vaison was a Dauphiné enclave within the Comtat.
