History and Culture
Historic Travaillan stood on the banks of the Aygues and included a castle and a chapel. The remains of the castle “Castis Trabelhani” in Vieux Travaillan, built in the early Middle Ages, include a gate known as the old archway and some wall remnants.
The castle chapel of Vieux Travaillan dates from the 11th to 12th century and is dedicated to Saint Pons. The present-day church of Travaillan is built in the neo-Romanesque style and was constructed in 1856.
