Faucon: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Faucon is a village set on a hill, offering panoramic views of the Pre-Alps and Mont Ventoux. At the same time, it is an old fortified town whose houses were built from local stone. Those who choose Faucon as their holiday base may wish to rent a holiday apartment here.

Culture and history

The Prieuré Saint-Germain in Faucon is designated as an archaeological site and priory. Including its outbuildings, ruins, archaeological remains and grounds (cadastral parcel B 54), it has been listed as a historic monument since 7 April 1992. The remains of a Gallo-Roman villa were discovered at the priory; a building with a central courtyard stood on the site of the present-day church.

The parish church of Saint-Germain was restored in 1668 and 1677. The Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs chapel in Faucon dates from 1644 and was restored in 1850; an immersive 360-degree video is available for it. Sainte Colombe Chapel contains a stone bearing the signature of the stonemason UGO.

Ruined towers remain from Faucon’s former fortifications. Remains of Faucon’s feudal castle can be discovered from Rue de l’Aparand.

Landscape and trails

A medieval arch in Rue du Belvédère overlooks the valley and frames the view of the northern side of Mont Ventoux. A walk to Pont du Gourmier on the outskirts of Faucon is particularly recommended.

“La randonnée de Faucon”, offered by Terra Rando, is a 7.0 km circular route starting in Faucon. Route 5 of the Chapel Trail reaches Faucon via Pont du Gournier, continues to Sainte Colombe Chapel and then into the Jau Forest.

Forest paths from Faucon lead into the surrounding countryside and to the vineyards; via the hamlet of Beaumettes, you can reach the Ouvèze. Hiking in Faucon also includes an easy 7 km circular route and a 10.4 km circular route of moderate difficulty.

Local flavours

Since 1980, Domaine La Roche Buissière has cultivated an 18-hectare vineyard with Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault according to organic farming principles. The vineyards lie at an altitude of 300 to 450 m and belong to the Côtes du Rhône appellation. The domaine also offers AOC olives and olive oil from Nyons.
