Culture and History

The Chapelle Notre Dame de Lamaron dates from the 11th century and was partially rebuilt in 1667. It consists of a single-nave church, a semicircular 11th-century apse, a porch and a bell turret.

The village of Lagarde-d'Apt was founded in 1626 on the initiative of the Duke of Lesdiguières, who offered land to thirteen families. In the 20th century, Lagarde-d'Apt was an important centre of the Resistance. Numerous parachute drops took place there, led by Fernand Jean d'Apt and the Ventoux Maquis.

Lavender and Cuisine

Le Bistrot de Lagarde offers refined and colourful Mediterranean cuisine adapted to the changing seasons. The cuisine draws on regional produce and the chef's Italian roots.

The “Balade en calèche avec L'Or des Lavandes” offers a one- to three-hour horse-drawn carriage ride through the Fra family's organic lavender farm and provides information about lavender cultivation, distillation, properties and history.

The “Routes des Lavande” route includes a stop in Lagarde-d'Apt to view the lavender fields and take photographs. It provides insights into lavender, from the fields and harvesting through distillation to specialities such as baguette with lavender flower water. L'Or des Lavandes has a direct-sales shop offering products from its own farm, as well as know-how passed down through more than seven generations.
