Puyvert’s heritage architecture combines several eras: the Pigeonnier du Jas de Puyvert was initially a medieval fortified house, later became a Renaissance residence, and was converted into a dovecote in the 18th century. The Château Saint-Pierre de Mejans is a former 12th-century priory with a Romanesque chapel and a paved courtyard.
Culture and History
The old village of Puyvert includes houses, oratories, and fountains. The fountains date from the 17th and 18th centuries. The Church of Notre Dame de la Purification has a wrought-iron bell tower from the 18th century.
The former parish church of Notre-Dame is also part of the village’s history. It was probably founded and built in the 13th century, sold in 1905, and converted into a second home.
The village of Puyvert was founded in 1626 through a settlement agreement as a simple group of farmsteads known as “les bastides”.

The Château Saint-Pierre de Mejans has a 13-hectare organically farmed vineyard classified as AOC Luberon. In its gardens, the château offers a gourmet tasting featuring cheese and cured meats from local artisan producers.
A guided tour focuses on the history of the estate and its wine. It also includes the Romanesque chapel and ends with a tasting of five wines. The Moulin de Puyvert produces olive oil.
