Culture and History

The parish church of Notre-Dame de l’Assomption in Beaumettes was consecrated in 1875 and has a Latin-cross floor plan. Its northern transept chapel is dedicated to Saint Thérèse of Lisieux.

The Chapelle Sainte-Foy dates from 1635. Its oculus contains a gemmail made from fragments of glass; today, the chapel also hosts exhibitions.

At Vieilles Beaumettes, ruins from the 16th century have been preserved and are associated with a historic rural settlement. Beaumettes lies on the edge of the route of the former Via Domitia, the first major Roman road built in Gaul from 118 BC onwards.

Nature and Surroundings

The Sentier botanique des Beaumettes is a 2.7-kilometre circular trail through garrigue and pine forest. Along the way, it passes geological formations dating from the Miocene.

The Dolmen de l’Ubac is located near Lumières railway station in the surroundings of Beaumettes; it can be reached via the véloroute or via the D218 between Lacoste and Ménerbes, near the Calavon. In Goult, the Neolithic Dolmen de l’Ubac is located in the surroundings of Beaumettes; in 2014, it was dismantled stone by stone and rebuilt true to the original.

The Confiserie Saint-Denis in the village of Beaumettes has preserved artisanal confectionery expertise passed down from generation to generation for more than 150 years. It also offers a guided tour of the workshop, including insights into the production process followed by a free tasting of homemade products.
