La Bastide-des-Jourdans lies on the southern slope of the Grand Luberon, on the edge of the Luberon Regional Nature Park. The first mention of the village dates back to 1229: in this text, Raimond-Bérenger V, Count of Provence, established a compulsory route that merchants had to take to Sisteron or the upper Durance Valley and back.

History
In 1388, the Château of La Bastide-des-Jourdans served as a refuge for one third of the population, as there was no room for them in the village of La Bastide-des-Jourdans. The base of the round tower, as well as the northern and western walls of the Château of La Bastide-des-Jourdans, date from the 13th century. The Château of La Bastide-des-Jourdans is privately owned and cannot normally be visited; guided tours take place only rarely.
Culture
The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Consolation was founded shortly before 1523, consecrated on 19 August 1535, severely damaged between 1582 and 1620, and restored before 1653. The chapel has a rectangular, barrel-vaulted choir with a round arch and a single-nave, rib-vaulted nave with one bay.
The Église Saint Pierre aux Liens was built in the 13th century. In 1343, it received a northern side chapel and a three-arched bell gable. The village belfry was built between 1620 and 1632 to house the parish bells and the community clock.
Landscape
Geosite 44, “Sulphurous Spring and Dam”, is located in La Bastide-des-Jourdans. The sulphurous spring at this geosite is actually one of three boreholes drilled by EDF in 1952 to investigate the subsoil before the construction of a dam.
