Rasteau is situated on a slope above the Ouvèze Valley, facing Mont Ventoux and the Dentelles de Montmirail. The Rasteau area is characterized by gorges formed by river erosion in sensitive alluvial soil.
Culture and History
The Fontaine de la Coularotte dates back to the 17th century. The Lavoir de La Coularotte is fed by the spring and the Fontaine de la Coularotte.
The Church of Saint Didier has been remodeled several times, particularly in the Gothic period. It also preserves walls that probably belonged to a 12th-century castle. The Chapel of Notre Dame des Vignerons dates back to the 18th century and is still permanently used as a place of worship today.
Wine and Events
La Nuit du Vin takes place in Rasteau every year on August 14. At Domaine Beau Mistral in Rasteau, a free wine tasting combined with a cellar tour is offered.
